A rich and motivating depth of resources allows our specialist teacher to plan experiences that are hands-on and engaging for students, motivating them to develop the ability to think scientifically and demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways – conducting experiments, collecting and analysing data, using tools and equipment and manipulating a range of materials.
The aims of the Caversham Valley Primary School Science program are consistent with those of the Western Australian Curriculum, ensuring that students develop:
At Caversham Valley, students learn about how the body moves; how to approach and resolve challenges; how to optimise movement performance; and the benefits of physical activity to themselves, others and communities.
Each year, students are involved in whole school sporting events including athletics carnivals, interschool competitions, cross country and sporting clinics from a range of community sporting groups.
Students also have the opportunity to participate in a weekly Run Club.
Students from Years 1 to 6 participate in weekly music lessons delivered by a specialist music teacher. Our music room is well-resourced, giving our students the opportunity to learn to play a variety of tuned and untuned instruments.
Choral singing is also a focus, with students from Year 3-6 encouraged to participate in the school choir and perform throughout the year at events such as the One Big Voice children's choir festival held at the Perth Arena.
