Academic Extension Program 2025

High Quality Teaching and Learning Opportunities

At Caversham Valley Primary School we aim to provide high quality teaching and learning opportunities for our students. This year we are excited to announce that our school will be trialling a series of academic enrichment programs for identified students in Years 1–6, beginning in Term 2.

These programs will be in addition to class work and are designed to challenge high-achieving students, providing them with opportunities to further develop their critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity within a supportive learning environment. Enrichment classes will take place during school hours, requiring students to miss a one-hour session of regular classwork either weekly or fortnightly.

Students will be selected based on previous academic results. To be eligible for and remain in the program, students must:

  • Have high grade attainment in enrichment subject
  • Maintain their regular classwork
  • Demonstrate good attendance
  • Uphold our school values

This will not replace outside extension programs such as EYE, PEAC and IMMS.  As students in who attend these programs already have access to enrichment opportunities and time out of the classroom, they will not be included in this trial.

At Caversham Valley Primary School, we acknowledge that we are learning and growing on Whadjuk Noongar boodja. We value the memories, traditions and knowledge of our Elders past and present and pay our respects as we walk together to a reconciled future.
