Many of our Year 6 students are provided with leadership roles and the opportunity to practice their leadership skills throughout the year. Leadership roles include Faction Captains, Student Councillors and Sustainability Leaders.
Student leaders are nominated and voted for by their peers, giving all students a meaningful understanding of the democratic process within their own school environment.
Student Councillors are the elected representatives of the student body. Their responsibilities include hosting special guests and school events, participating in school assemblies, writing for the school newsletter and actively speaking on behalf of the Caversham Valley students, to ensure their opinions are heard.
Our Faction Captains work closely with the Phys Ed teacher, to maintain sporting equipment and organise play equipment for recess and lunch time use. They assist with faction carnival preparations, school community events, senior sport and help with school community events such as ‘run club’.
Our Sustainability Leaders are responsible for promoting and managing Sustainability Initiatives in our school including maintaining and emptying recycling bins, helping to promote and manage ‘Zero Waste’ days, monitoring battery collection boxes and helping with school community events.
Our student leaders are required to maintain and display the Caversham Valley values and expected behaviours, at all times.
