Pudjak - Double-Storey Teaching Block
A purpose-built double-storey teaching block was completed at the end of the 2024 school year. Named Pudjak, this facility includes 10 classrooms, a science lab, and a student services area, increasing the number of students taught in permanent classrooms to 700.
Pudjak is the Whadjuk Noongar name for the Parrot Bush, a native plant found throughout the Perth metropolitan area. The colours of the Ringed-Neck Parrot are reflected in the design of the building and the adjacent newly constructed playground.
Celebrating Pudjak’s Opening at Caversham Valley
We were honoured to welcome Hon. Sabine Winton MLA, Minister for Education, and Mr Steve Catania MLA, Member for Midland, to officially open our two-storey teaching block, Pudjak, in November 2025.
Before the ceremony, we hosted an Education Forum with guests from other schools.
During the opening, Mr Craig shared the significance of Pudjak’s design and name, and expressed gratitude to all who contributed to bringing this space to life. Special guests included representatives from McCorkell Constructions, Site Architecture, T&Z Architects, our P&C, the artists behind our Pudjak masterpiece, and the art consultants who supported the project.
A highlight of the event was hearing from Year 5 student Leona, who spoke beautifully about connecting to culture through our Bush Tucker Garden and embracing diversity.
Hon. Sabine Winton praised our 2025 and 2026 student councillors for their warm hospitality, giving special recognition to Michaela and Ari for their thoughtful reflections on the school’s accessibility.
We are truly fortunate to have Pudjak — a space that reflects the heart of our community and the future of learning at Caversham Valley.
